Life in the fast lane!
This week was full of cool miracles here in Oak Cliff. Wow! I don't know where to start.
I will start at the end. This week ended with a bang! We held a pool party for Sharon and her grandchildren on Saturday. It went super well and the kids loved it. There were 8 non-members who came. We shared a spirtual message with them while they were all in the pool. It was super cool. I wish I would've taken a photo of it.
On Sunday Sharon was baptized in the English ward. It was such a spiritual experience. All of her children and grandchildren came, and her son, Thomas wants to be baptized also, so we will be working with him. Her granddaughter Bella has wanted to be baptized, but her mom doesn't really like the church. At the baptism Bella cried and cried and told her mom she wants to be baptized so her mom is going to allow it. We are so pumped.
Amelia's baptism was also so awesome!!! Probably the coolest experience I have had at a baptism during my whole mission. I was able to baptize her and after she came out of the water, she let out a huge gasp and started crying. It was super powerful. I love Amelia. She is the coolest miracle. She is so amazing. The Spanish ward has taken her in under their wing so well and they really love her.
We have been biking a lot and working hard and trying to get a solid teaching pool. One day we biked about 10 miles away from our apartment but when we typed in our address to get back it lead us to the freeway, so I was like, "well, let's get on the freeway." haha While we were on the freeway everyone was just honking at us and these 18 wheelers were flying past us. That's life in the fast lane, I guess.
Later in the week we were biking and I saw this mom sitting on a hammock with 4 kids I got a strong impression to stop and talk to them, but the only problem was that we were in the far left lane and had to cross the street through all the cars. When we finally reached the family, the kids were so nice. It is the Martinez family from Honduras and the little girl was so smart. She is only 9 years old and was soo excited to read the Book of Mormon. They don't attend a church right now so we set up a time to come by and teach them more. We are super excited about that!
The perez family sent us a text this week that they don't want to keep doing the lessons because their parents are scared for them to change religions. We went over and talked through it with them and told them that we totally understand and that it is quite a change and to just remember the feelings that they have had when they read the Book of Mormon. At the end we all got on our knees and Brenda said the prayer. It was so awesome. The spirit was strong and when we asked them what they felt they told us that they felt peace. We explained to them that it was the Holy Ghost testifying to them of the truth. We invited them to come back to church, but unfortunately they didn't come. We will see what happens this week.
A couple of cool experiences happened this week. While I was getting a Book of Mormon I noticed a restoration video and felt like I should grab it. While we were out we found this young lady in her twenties with a young baby, so we stopped and talked to her. She said that she doesn't go to a church right now and was really interested when we talked about the Book of Mormon and about eternal families. Then it hit me that I needed to give the video to this lady. She perked up when I gave it to her, and said "Wow, I'm going to watch this and if I feel like it is true, I would be interested in joining your church!" It was cool. I have learned that if you follow your promptings, good things will always happen. When I listen to promptings I know that God will give me more as I follow them!
This week was so special and the mission is so awesome. There is not a better feeling that bringing someone closer to Christ and to see a whole life change. It is just so awesome!!!
I want to encourage ya'll to listen to your proptings. I have seen a huge difference in my mission and in my life because nothing bad will ever happen if you listen to your prompting because the spirit is trying to help you, but also helping you to be able to help others people!
I love ya'll
