Wings and Parties
It was a good week, full of cool adventures. It was super hot, as usual, but the members are really nice and my Spanish has been good. The Lord has been helping me and has been giving me a lot of confidence.
Both of the families that we are teaching were out of town last week, but it is alright, they are coming back this week so we are super pumped.
We were supposed to have a lesson with the Perez family before they left to Chicago, and we had planned to have a member come with us but he was late. We waited for him but finally the dad of the Perez family texted us and said "we have been waiting for you guys but you never came so we can't have the lesson any more. We have to get going to Chicago." We were so disappointed and a little upset because that was a really big lesson. But the Perez family is doing great, and they are reading!
We got invited to a BBQ held by a recent convert and between us and the other elders we got 8 investigators from the party. They loved it. At one point the guy that was doing music started singing Christmas songs and everyone looked bored so I got up there and sang a song. It was so funny. Then my comp and the other elders sang too, and we were all having a blast.
Later I had the opportunity to do a baptismal interview for this girl named Vanessa. She is soo cool, but is soooooooo shy. She is only 9 years old but the spirit was super strong during the baptismal interview! Her mom asked me if I could baptize her and I felt honored. My companion got to baptize another girl named Jasmine so we both felt super honored. The baptism was so spiritual. I was nervous because It was the first time that I performed a baptism in Spanish! I practiced like a hundred times. ha ha
But later in the week, it was super funny. Me and my comp and the other companionship went to this restaurant called American Best Wings because there was a deal that if you bought 100 wings it would only cost 40 dollars, so we did it. We got 10 different flavors. It was so fun. We ate them all! It was awesome, but we felt sick afterwards, and then while we were getting ready to leave this girl that worked there came up to my companion and asked him if he liked the wings? Then she gave him her phone number and the biggest wink. Haha It was so awkward. He explained the situation, but it was so funny and we were all dying. We try to go back to that wing place every day. hahaha
This week I have been doing the challenge of reading 10 pages a day and it has been going super good. I have been learning so much and feel like things are sticking in my brain. I am almost done with the Book of Mormon. That will be the 6th time that I have read it since I have been on my mission. I'm also reading the Bible as well and learning a lot. I like the New Testament. I am always thinking of analogies or ways that I can teach the children or help people so it makes sense to them. I invite you all the read the Book of Mormon hard and to pray about it! It really has changed my life.
I love y'all. Have a great week!
And shout out the my companion whose birthday was this week. Big 21.
