Open your heart and try the experiment

What a week! This week was one for the books. haha First off, it snowed in Oklahoma, which hasn't happened for 6 years. It was pretty cool, until we realized we had to go inside for the rest of the day. Then the next morning we got all ready and were about the leave our apartment when we got a text that the roads were iced up so we couldn't drive. We were shocked. We packed up our bags with food and walked to our church a mile and a half away. It was 9 degrees, plus humidity, so a lot colder than that. ha ha It was quite the adventure. We loaded up on treats cause we stayed there all day. I got a lot of studying in, but it was disappointing because we had to cancel our lessons and a really important dinner appointment with a less-active part-member family.

But this week was a really good one with the family who didn't really like us at first, but who really like us now. They are really improving and have been praying a lot more He said that he is happier now. It is amazing. They are doing great. This week we had a lesson with an amazing Marshallese and they have a baptismal date for the 11th of February. The parents can't speak English so their son, who is only 16, translates. It's so cool. I have no idea what he says to them but it's awesome the lesson went really well. He really opened up to us and started joking around and having fun and their kids are getting comfortable with us. It's awesome. 

We made brownies and have been giving them to our investigators and members and I can testify that food is truly a way to a person's heart. haha It's awesome. The people have been loving it. 

This week we had a lesson with Fabio, our only Spanish investigator from Guatemala and he is soooo solid. The gift of tongues is real! It was the best Spanish I have ever spoken on my mission and the Spirit was super strong.  I was even cracking jokes in Spanish. haha He really likes us, and as we were leaving he was like, "wait, I want you guys to come over on Tuesday and have dinner with me and my wife. I will cook for you guys some Guatemalan food."  I am so excited because we have not been able to meet his wife yet so I can't wait.

Now an even crazier miracle!!! Back story: two weeks ago we met this guy and he loved the message we shared and wanted us to come back and meet his wife. Well we tried for two weeks and he just fell off the planet. We were going to drop him soon but we went over last night and he was there!! He let us in and told us he has been in Colorado for family reasons and apologized to us for not being here. We got to know he and his wife and shared a message and WOW did they open up to us. The spirit was so strong. They have gone through some really hard things. They want us to come back and this is the crazy part. We left him a book of Mormon two weeks ago and his wife picked it up and has been reading it! She was like, "This is really another testament of Jesus Christ. It's not trying to take away from the Bible and it is amazing!" We were in shock it made me realize that you never know who will pick up the Book of Mormon and start reading it. It's amazing to know how much our actions can affect others even when they are not intended for that person. 

Guys, I just love the Book of Mormon so much. It truly will change your life. It has changed mine. If anyone of you guys are struggling right now, pick up the Book of Mormon and start reading it with sincere prayer for help and it will change your life. Your faith will grow and your mind will be enlightened and you will feel that change happen. But this will only happen if you open your heart like it says in Alma verse 27-28

27 But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words.

28 Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me
