MTC Week Five

This week has been crazy. I honestly can't remember everything that happened and I can't believe I'm leaving in a week to Dallas, Texas. I also can't believe Garrett leaves on Sunday. So weird. It's getting chilly here so I can't wait to get to Dallas where it is warmer.

This week my Spanish is coming along a lot better. Some days it's difficult and some days I can say what I wanna say, and it's so weird because I am addicted to the Book of Mormon and to the Spanish language, even though it's difficult. I hope whoever read my letter last week tried my invitation because it will change your life slowly but surely.

This week we had an apostle come. Quinten L Cook. I thought for sure it was going to be Elder Holland and I was so excited, and then Quinten L Cook walked in and I was shocked, but I was still so excited to see an apostle again. It is the coolest experience. Before he got up to speak, me and my companion sang in the choir and it was sooo cool. All the elders and sisters singing together, I loved it (and I got a close up on the big screen, which was live broadcasted to all the MTCs around the world  ha ha).  Elder Cook said that if you love the people you will be a great missionary because you will want to do everything you can for the people. I loved that so much.

But what really meant the most to me personally was that he said to have confidence in where you got called on your mission. He said it is not just a random assignment and that really comforted me because it came from an apostle. It helped me so much because I got reassigned. But the coolest part was that right after he said that, he gave a shout out to the Dallas, Texas Spanish speaking mission and I was shocked. It hit me hard. Then he spoke about a kid that was on his mission and how he was training and he didn't know a lot about the scriptures and about the lessons, but his testimony was really powerful and that's all he needed. People wanted to get baptized just because of his testimony and because he taught with the Holy Ghost and the people felt it.  That comforted me a lot because I know I'm not going to know a lot of Spanish at first, but as long I have a strong testimony the Holy Ghost will do the rest.

This week I watched a movie on Joseph Smith and it was crazy what he went through and still always had faith. I love Joseph Smith. I have been having crazy experiences with the scriptures. I will have a question and then a few days later while I am reading the scriptures, I will start talking to the guys about it and then I will look down and the next scripture answers my question.  It is so cool. ha ha The scriptures are sooooo amazing.

This week I had a few bad lessons where I struggled understanding what was being said.  I was feeling down and then the next the day my teacher started talking about the gift of tongues and showed a lot of scriptures and videos. It made me feel really good and I started applying everything, and the next few days I  was understanding a lot more and speaking sooo much better. It was so crazy. My companion was surprised. ha ha and I was surprised too. ha ha I feel like I could never learn this much Spanish at school.

This week we were teaching this grandma named Ana, She is super cool and she said she knows a ton about the church and has felt the spirit, but just didn't know if it was true. The next lesson we talked to her about the commitment we made with her and she said God answered her prayers and we were so happy for her. Then we asked her to get baptized and she said no, she doesn't know. So we kept teaching her about faith and then we shared some scriptures that applied to her. She loved them so much that she took a picture of them. Then she started talking about how hard it is to speak English and stuff, so me and my comp bore our testimony and I said, "Ana, Spanish is really hard for me, just like English is really hard for you, but through faith and hope we can do it." And then I said, "Ana, I promise you that if you will trust in the Lord and have faith," and I said more that I can't remember.  But it felt soooo right to ask her about baptism and so I asked her again and this time she said "Yes, I will." It was sooooooo cool. The spirit was strong and I was sooo excited for her. After we walked out of the room I was pumped. I had the best feeling in my heart and was shaking. ha ha Being a missionary is the best thing in the world, even though it's tough. I just can't wait until I get to Dallas and get to serve the people. I know there are people waiting to hear the message of happiness.  It's not for me, it's for others.

If you are struggling with something pray to the Lord for guidence and help. Be courageous and go out of your way to look for people that need help because there are times in our lives when we are the ones wanting someone to come and talk to us when we re struggling. I challenge whoever reads this to find someone who needs a friend.

P.S. I loved the package. Thanks so much, Mom.

I love you guys
