Wyatt called yesterday from a pay phone at the airport. He was on his way to Dallas and had four minutes to talk. After feeding quarters into the phone we had a total of eight lovely minutes. He sounds ready, and nervous, and excited to get to the field. He said it was so hard to say goodbye to his district and he told us cool stories about his teachers--they showed him the love. Best of all for my momma heart was that he talked about how fun it was to see Garrett so much in the MTC. "I really got to know him," he said.
We received an email from the president saying that Wyatt seems happy and anxious to do the work of the Lord. He assigned him a strong trainer, Elder Callister from Henderson, Nevada.
Wyatt will start off his mission in Grand Prairie, which is smack dab (approximately) in the middle of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Like everything in Texas, it's a big, big place--population (approximately) 190,000 more than Cornish Maine where Garrett is serving. In Cornish the top employers might include antique shops and Grumpy Grandpa's Hot Dogs. In Grand Prairie the top employers include Lockhead Martin Missiles, Vought Aircraft Industries, and Airbus Helicopter. Grand Prairie's minor league baseball team is called the AirHogs. (Not going to say "enough said'). I don't know about their political leanings, but there is a parkway named President George W. Bush Turnpike (still not going to say "enough said"). Grand Prairie boasts award-winning parks, one of the top frisbee golf courses in the nation, and a skate park so spectacular it hosted the X games. If you google image it Selena Gomez will pop up, because, that's right, it's her home town.

And now, drumroll, please, for photographic evidence that Wyatt has arrived:
