From the MTC to "The Sistric"
I feel like I left out a lot between leaving the MTC and settling into Grand Prairie, so here it is:
So my last day in the MTC we had the opportunity to watch conference and it was awesome. I have never been more excited, which is weird cause I never am. lol I can honestly say I don't think I have watched a full session of conference, so I'm not gonna lie, I brought snacks and stuffed them in my suit coat and ate them with the boys in my district . Every talk was super good. The main thing I got was to read the book of Mormon, be patient in your trials, and grow your faith by reading the scriptures. This will help you have an unshakable testimony. Conference honestly answered all my questions.
After conference we had to say goodbye to the people in my dorm and we woke up at 3:30 and got on a bus, then to the tracks, and then on the front runner. It was crazy. We had to stack all the luggage on it and everyone was in a rush. It was funny. Then we got to the airport and got ready to go on the flight. Then we had to say goodbye to the elders going to Chicago, which was tough.
Then we headed off and I was super excited. I talked to a lady next to me and got to know her. She didn't know about the church so I told her about it and bore my testimony and I was gonna give her a Book of Mormon, but I didn't have one. Can you believe that? I had to give her a pass-along card and told her to look up the church website. I'm hoping she did.
Then we got off the flight and met the mission president and his wife. They are super cool. We took pics in front of the temple and then we went to their house later that night and ate Then we got dropped off at this place that had like 10 people in it and we had to find a place to sleep. It was crazy. The next day we got our new companions. They lined up and they had us guess until we picked it right.
My companion is Elder Callister. He has been out for 11 months and we both got put in Grande Prairie which was 45 minutes from where we were. The area I'm in is and English and a Spanish area.
This place is a biking area. We were supposed to have a dinner schedule but the elders before us lost it so we starved this week. I've lost weight haha We have been trying to get to know everyone and calling everyone to get things set up and we met our English bishop and Spanish bishop and the ward mission president leader. We have had a few meals and the Spanish food is unreal! I love it. The people here speak super fast!! It's crazy. I can't understand a lot, but I know it will get better. We went to church twice. The difference between the English ward and the Spanish ward is that the Spanish ward is soooo humble and the spirit was really strong there and there were soooo many people getting up to bear their testimony. It was crazy haha
I am pumped to talk to everyone this week and to try my hardest and work on not relying on me but on the Lord and as I try to speak the Lord will do the rest.
Oh, and our district is all girls, so we call it the Sistrict ha ha
But that's my week.
